TALS' Staff Attorney Kirsten Jacobson Selected for Leadership Tennessee NEXT Class II

NASHVILLE, TN December 4, 2019 -- Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services' (TALS) Staff Attorney Kirsten Jacobson has been selected for the Leadership Tennessee NEXT Class II. 

This prestigious statewide leadership program brings together mid-career professionals from across Tennessee to learn, collaborate, and grow as leaders in the state and in their respective industries. Kirsten brings her creativity, curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and love of learning to this opportunity to learn from peers from different backgrounds and communities.

As a statewide organization, TALS values the unique collaboration and professional development experience that the Leadership Tennessee programs offer. Kirsten is the second TALS staff member to participate in Leadership Tennessee NEXT and the third to participate in a Leadership Tennessee program. HELP4TN Program Manager Tim Hughes is a member of Leadership Tennessee NEXT Class I. Executive Director Ann Pruitt is a member of the signature program Leadership Tennessee Class VI.

At TALS, Kirsten focuses on leveraging technology to provide new legal service delivery models and increase access to legal care for low-income Tennesseans. She is also the site administrator for TN Free Legal Answers. Kirsten joined TALS as an Equal Justice Works Fellow in September 2016 and through her Fellowship created the Legal Wellness Checkup, a preventive and strengths-based approach to managing every day legal risks. 

Kirsten is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville and a member of the Tennessee Bar Association Access to Justice Committee. She is an active member of the Junior League of Nashville and volunteers with the Nashville Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association. Kirsten received her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2016 and B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 2013. While in law school, Kirsten served as the student director of UT Pro Bono, and she was recognized as the Tennessee Bar Association's Law Student Volunteer of the Year at the 2017 Public Service Luncheon.
